How CatchSEO researches expired domains

We separate marketplace facts, third-party estimates, archive evidence, automated screening, and editorial interpretation so buyers can see what is measured and what still needs verification.

Auction inventory and outcomes

CatchSEO tracks GoDaddy auction inventory, including the domain, listed price, bid count, auction status, and scheduled end time. A report calls an auction "sold" only when it ended with at least one recorded bid. Prices and live inventory can change until an auction closes, and a marketplace valuation is shown as an estimate rather than a purchase recommendation.

Backlinks and organic search

Backlink, referring-domain, Domain Rating, keyword, traffic, and traffic-value fields come from third-party SEO datasets. They are estimates and samples, not the publisher's analytics. CatchSEO exposes the underlying sources, anchors, pages, keywords, countries, and history where available so users can examine the evidence behind an aggregate number.

Archive evidence

Historical-use evidence is derived from Internet Archive records. CatchSEO summarizes capture years, continuity, gaps, redirects, languages, and former topics, while linking to archived captures for manual review. Archive coverage is incomplete: absence of a capture means unknown, not clean.

AI screening labels

The classifier reviews the evidence available for an enriched domain and assigns category and spam-risk labels such as clean, caution, or toxic. Labels help prioritize investigation. They are not independent verification, legal advice, a guarantee of safety, or a prediction of how a search engine will treat a future site. Missing enrichment is marked unavailable and must not be interpreted as low risk.

Reports and editorial review

Auction counts, prices, distributions, and percentages in CatchSEO reports are computed from database records. AI may draft narrative text, but published copy is reviewed for factual accuracy, uncertainty, unsupported causation, and misleading forecasts. Evergreen reports retain their original publication date and expose a separate modified date when data or analysis changes.

Educational guides prioritize primary sources, practical product evidence, and clearly dated examples. We do not publish guaranteed ranking claims or treat one SEO metric as proof of value.

Corrections

Auction records and third-party datasets can be revised. To report an error, email hello@catchseo.com with the page URL and the evidence that should be reviewed. Substantive corrections update the page's modified date.
