How to evaluate these results
1.Prioritize referring domains over raw links
Thousands of links from one website are less diverse than links from many independent, credible sites. Start with the referring-domain count, then inspect the strongest sources and how naturally the links were earned.
2.Check anchors and target pages
Review what the links say and where they point. Natural brand and URL anchors are different from repeated commercial phrases, and links to deep pages require a plan to restore or redirect equivalent content.
3.Expect link loss
Backlinks can disappear when publishers update pages or discover an ownership change. Base your valuation on durable, relevant sources and verify important links directly rather than assuming every recorded link will remain.
How many backlinks should an expired domain have?
There is no useful universal minimum. A small number of editorial links from relevant, trusted sites can be more valuable than a large automated footprint. Evaluate source diversity, relevance, anchors, target pages, and current link status together.
Does buying a domain preserve its backlinks?
The external links may continue to point at the domain, but publishers can remove them and search engines decide how to interpret the new site. Preserve relevant URL paths and topic continuity where legitimate, and never assume recorded links guarantee rankings.
